What is a domain?

A domain name, or domain as it is often popularly called, is the address you enter in the browser to visit a website. This is what follows the symbol "@" in an e-mail address or after // in a web address. An example of a complete web address, or URL as it is called, is https://www.resultify.com/ and the domain name in the URL is then "resultify.com". As you can see, domain names are part of the URL but not the same as a URL. Simply described, you can think of it as a house, where the domain is the street address while the URL would be the entire distance to the place, including the specific room inside the house you want to visit.
